Janet L. Logan (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Janet Lea (Ginnings) Logan was born on October 20, 1961, in Humansville, Missouri, the youngest of eight children to C.E (Ed) Ginnings and Evalena (Grimes) Ginnings and departed this life September 22, 2022, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at age 60. She grew up in Nemo, Missouri and attended school in Hermitage.
At an early age Janet was saved, baptized, and joined the church at Decaturville Missionary Baptist Church in Camden County. Janet was married to Michael Barker from 1981 to 1994 and married Shane Logan in 2003.
The light of her life was her three children, Crystal Lea (Ginnings) Tyson and her husband Thomas Tyson of Springfield, Christopher Michael Barker who preceded her in death in 2016, and Brandy Lynn (Barker) Smelts of Lebanon. She was blessed with five grandchildren, Makenzie, Lane, Trindie, Colton, and Chase, and one great-grandchild, Eathan, all of whom she dearly loved.
Janet managed several businesses throughout her years and was recognized as a diligent worker. She liked to attend church, where she enjoyed playing bass guitar and singing. Although, she faced many health challenges in her life, she always had a beautiful smile that could light up any room. Her faith provided inspiration to write several gospel songs, which she was preparing to hand down to her grandchildren. Many of her friends and family would turn to her for support and guidance in times of trouble and she meet them with ears to listen, a voice of reason, and a warm heart.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles Ginnings; her son Christopher; a niece, Donna Christian; nephews Carl Ginnings and Charles Hussey; sister-in-law, Maxine Ginnings; and brother-in-law, Jerry Sowers. She is survived by her two daughters; son-in-law; five grandchildren; four sisters, Mildred Nesbitt (Bob), Kathy McKinnon, Susie Sowers, and Jean Wood (Bob); two brothers, Don Ginnings (Kathy), and Billy Ginnings; and nieces, nephews, cousins, one uncle, and many friends. Janet will be long remembered and sadly missed by all who knew her.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 29, 2022 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home in Urbana with John Klem and Dusty Burns officiating. Escorts will be Tim Ginnings, Steve Newman, Darin Newman, Jim Ginnings, Arlis Ginnings, Samuel Ginnings, Matt Ginnings, Brandon Herring, Jeff Ginnings, Jake Wood, John Ginnings, and Butch Nebbitt. Interment will be in the Nemo Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Urbana. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to help with funeral expenses.
