Janet Kay Swearengin (Seymour)'s Obituary
Dearly loved mother and grandmother, adored aunt, caring sister-in-law and friend, Janet Swearengin departed this life just after midnight at age 78, on Wednesday, November 25, 2020, at Magnolia Square Nursing in Springfield, Missouri. She was born Janet Kay Russell in Seymour, Missouri, on April 11, 1942, to Charley and Wanda Jean (Lueallen) Russell. She was raised in the Seymour area and was a graduate of the Seymour High School Class of 1960.
In 1962, she married Sammy Swearengin, they moved to Fordland, and together had two daughters, Amanda and Lori. Janet was a committed and caring mom – a really good mom and grandma – who devoted her years to loving and spending time with her daughters and grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Family was everything to Janet. She did work outside the home, for a time at Brown Shoe Company in Seymour, and later Fasco Industries in Ozark. Janet finally retired as Assistant Manager from Dollar General in 2004 and moved to Rogersville. Janet was a happy-go-lucky spirit who liked to read, and in warm months she enjoyed planting flowers and dabbling in her garden. She was preceded in death by her father, Charley, and her mother, Wanda, who only passed November 17th, 2020. Her brother, David Russell, also preceded her. Janet is survived by her daughters, Amanda Allman and husband, Chris, of Clever, Missouri, and Lori Rabourn and husband, Shane, of Springfield, and their father, Sammy Swearengin. She was MeMe to Justin, Nick, and Emily Allman, and Bradley, Jacob, and Jackson Rabourn. Janet was close to her nieces and nephews, Heath Russell, and Michelle and Mike Lawrence – all of Seymour, and Nikki and Eric Hair of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, and her great-nephew, Mark Lawrence and fiancé, Haylee Marsh. Her sister-in-law, Becky Russell, of Seymour, was also her dear friend. Janet created a lifetime of wonderful memories for her family that will be cherished in their hearts forever. She will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all those blessed enough to know and love her.
