Janettie Johnson's Obituary
Janettie Faye Johnson, daughter of Travis W. and Peggy R. Seida Goff, was born May 17, 1948, in Wichita Falls, Texas. She departed this life Thursday, December 18, 2008, in her home near Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty years, six months, and twenty-nine days. On August 14, 1965, Janettie was united in marriage to Ray Johnson, and to this union two children were born. She was preceded in death by her father. Janettie is survived by her husband, B. Ray Johnson of Mansfield, Missouri; her daughter, Gina R. Johnson of Duncan, Oklahoma; her son, Waylan N. Johnson and wife Amy of Dallas, Texas; her mother, Peggy R. Goff of Duncan, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Marie and Luke Johnson; two sisters, Carolyn S. Cline and husband Gary, and Ella Jean Sampley and husband Rick, all of Duncan, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews along with a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Janettie was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, and attended Comanche High School. She then attended Draughon Business College where she earned an Associate’s degree in Business. While living in Oklahoma, Janettie owned and operated a Beauty Salon. After she and Ray moved to Wright County in 1979, Janettie spent time working at Wright County Extension Center, where she was awarded with the Secretary of the Year Award. She also worked as a Farmer’s Helper and as a Personnel Manager at the Ozarks Correctional Center in Fordland, Missouri. Janettie was saved at an early age and was a member of the Odin Community Church. She loved to sing, and especially enjoyed singing in the choir when she attended Mt. Zion Baptist Church. She was a member of the Hartville Saddle Club, the 4-H Club, AARP, and was involved in the Youth Group at her church. In her spare time, Janettie liked to raise Beagles and loved spending time with her family and friends and cherished the time spent talking with her grandchildren over the phone. She was also an avid reader, and in her earlier years she enjoyed crocheting. Janettie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday December 20, 2008 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home in Hartville. Burial will be in the Claude Cemetery in Duncan Oklahoma on Monday December 22, 2008. Visitation will begin at 1pm until time of service at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Missouri. A memorial has been established to the Wright County Childrens Home. Donations may be made through the funeral home. Return to top
