Janice (Delcour) Charboneau (Hartville)'s Obituary
Janice Delcour Charboneau peacefully departed this life at 3:13 am on September 11, 2015 in the Hartville Care Center, Hartville, Missouri. Janice was met by a host of family and friends waiting to welcome her to her new forever home. Twelve years prior, Janice was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. The cancer was aggressively treated and Janice enjoyed many years in remission until this past year when the cancer returned. However, true to her character, Janice maintained her dignity throughout her final days at the care center until her Heavenly Father called her to leaver her earthly body for a life that disease cannot touch.
Janice was born at home to Harley and Ida Crisp Delcour on March 26, 1944. She was their fourth born child.
She attended schools at Cold Water, Cope, and Hartville. She graduated from Hartville High School in the Class of 1962. For a brief time after graduation, she lived and worked in Mansfield, Missouri.
Janice married Johnnie Daily on April 15, 1967, and they established their home in Lee Summit, Missouri. A daughter, April Dawn Daily Ely (Donivan) was born to their union. April presented her parents with two grandchildren, Nathanial and Autumn. In 1985, Janice and Johnnie divorced but maintained their friendship through the ensuing years.
On May 19, 1990, Janice married Ted Charboneau with whom she shared many happy years. They made their home in Blue Springs, Missouri. With her marriage to Ted, Janice gained three additional children, Tammy, Rob, and Rhonda, and six additional grandchildren, Jared, Trevor, Erica, Drew, Chloe, and Alex.
All the children and grandchildren survive and reside in the Kansas City area.
Janice is survived by sisters, Wanda Delcour Fletcher (Ralph), and Judith Kay Delcour Griffin (Lavon), Ronald’s wife Beverly Cope Delcour, brother-in-law Alan Charboneau, and numerous nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Harley and Ida along with Janice’s brothers, Ronald, Darrell, and Darrell’s wife, Sue Richardson Delcour, preceded her in death.
Janice retired after working 23 years with Wal-Mart at Blue Springs, Missouri. It was shortly after their retirements, that Ted suggested to Janice that they move to the Grovespring community to be near Janice’s siblings. Shortly after they moved Ted’s health declined. Janice lovingly cared for Ted until his death on January 29, 2010.
Janice had a zest for life and an easygoing personality that she freely shared with friends and family. She made friends easily and stayed in contact with her friends from school and Kansas City. In recent years, she enjoyed gathering with friends at the Manes Music Makers and the Grovespring Senior Center music events. Janice also looked forward to her daily pie and coffee break with Glennis, Susie, and Donna at Mize’s Café.
As her health permitted, Janice attended the Cuba Church. Reverend Jerry Ward provided spiritual leadership and Janice affirmed her faith in Jesus Christ.
The family is deeply grateful to the Hartville Care Center staff, the Preferred Hospice of Missouri staff, and the numerous friends and family who cared for Janice during her recent illness.
Janice had requested cremation and that her remains be scattered along with Ted’s at a private destination in Wright County.
A dinner to celebrate Janice’s “new life” and to commemorate her journey through her earthly life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m., at the Grovespring Senior Center. The dinner will be catered and friends and family are invited to come and share their special memories of Janice.
