On March 18, 1968, she was united in marriage to Ronald J. Wilson, and they shared the last fifty-one years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Donald Eugene Woods.
Janice is survived by her husband, Ronnie, of the home; one daughter, Judy Zerface, of the State of Florida; four sons, Michael R. Pierson, and his wife, Barbara, of Excelsior Springs, Missouri, Bill Fite, and his wife, Lisa, of Monrovia, Indiana, Stephen Wilson, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Chris A. Wilson, and his wife, Charity, of Stoutland, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Justin, Devin, Nicholas, Madison, Erika, Zach, and Logan; four great-grandchildren, Calleigh-Rae, Cora Jean, Graham, and Landon; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Excelsior Springs and graduated from Excelsior Springs High School in the Class of 1957. She worked in a textile mill and dress shop in her young adulthood. She then moved to the Stoutland community and made her home. After she and Ronnie were married, they made their home near Stoutland, and lovingly raised their family. Janice worked at Countryside Manor in Lebanon for a time and at the Stoutland Senior Center, but was always a devoted homemaker to her family. She did volunteer work with numerous groups and especially with Meals-on-Wheels, where she was instrumental in launching the Stoutland Senior Citizens Center.
Janice embraced the gospel message of Jesus Christ when she was a teenager and was baptized at Rock Falls Baptist Church. She was an active member of Stoutland Baptist Church since 1967, where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday school, VBS, and did many ministry works that few people knew about.
She was an excellent cook and enjoyed making special meals for her family. She was a very giving and loving woman who liked taking care of her family. Her pets, “Frankie” and “Johnny”, held a very special place in her heart. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Janice was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will hold tight to the wonderful memories they have of her and will miss her dearly.
Memorial donations to the Stoutland Senior Citizens Center may be made through the funeral home.
