Janie Barber (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Janie Sue Barber, daughter of Sheddie and Flora Mae Dinwiddie Barber, was born December 1, 1949, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, April 5, 2014, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, three months, and four days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, James and Brennon Barber.
Janie is survived by a son, Chad Barber, and his wife, Audra, of Lebanon, Missouri; an eagerly anticipated grandson who is on his way, Gibson Dean Barber; a brother, Murrell Barber, of the State of Oklahoma; a sister, Mary Shaddy, and her husband, Jake, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon community and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1967. She then earned her cosmetology license from a local beauty college. She moved to Kansas City for a few years, and worked for Hallmark Cards. After relocating to Springfield, she was employed by Lily Tulip for a time. She then moved back to Lebanon, where she worked for the H. D. Lee Company, and was a nurses’ aide at Wallace Hospital. She later was employed as an assembly person for Solid States Circuitry. Janie was also a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her son.
Janie made her profession of faith in Christ as a youth, and was a member of Union Mission Church in Lebanon.
In her spare time she enjoyed working crossword puzzles, and shopping. She liked to travel whenever she could and enjoyed having special times with her family. She had a sweet, easy going personality and always wanted to please everyone.
Janie was a loving mother, future grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
