Janis Lavena Clemons ( Bolivar)'s Obituary
Janis Lavena (Tillery) Clemons died peacefully in her home on November 24, 2018, in Fair Play, Missouri, at the age of 98.
Janis was born in Humansville, Missouri, on November 16, 1920, to Fred and Eva Tillery. After high school, Janis attended cosmetology school and became a beautician. After the war, she married Donald Clemons on March 31, 1947, and moved to their lifelong home on the farm, near Fair Play, Missouri. Janis worked alongside her husband to grow row crops and milk dairy cattle until the early 1960s when they transitioned to beef cattle. Janis prided herself in hard work and tending to the needs of those around her. She spent hours each summer in the garden doing what she loved. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Janis is survived by her son, John Clemons of Fair Play; grandson, John Clemons II, and wife Lachelle, of Fair Play; three great-grandchildren: Lexandria, John III, and Micah; and eight nephews and two nieces.
Janis is preceded in death by her husband Donald Clemons; her father Fred Tillery; her mother Eva (Reser) Tillery; her sister Freda Martin; her sister Anna Dorman; her sister Yvonne Slagle; and an infant brother.
Visitation will be from 2:00 – 3:00 PM, on Tuesday, November 27, 2018, at the Butler Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow the visitation, starting at 3:00 PM, with Bro. Kevin Sitton officiating. Burial will follow at Hartley Cemetery, in Aldrich, Missouri.
