Jannetta Fern Swigert (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Jannetta Fern Swigert, daughter of the late Sida Howard and Julia Ann (Cole) Havice was born on June 3, 1932 in Dresden, KS and departed this life on October 25, 2021 in Springfield, MO. At the time of her passing she was 89 years, four months, and 21 days of age.
Jannetta was united in marriage to John Swigert on December 15, 1950. She worked as a Nurse’s Aid for many years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Jannetta was preceded in death by her husband John; her parents; two sisters, Edith Swigert and Eva Havice; two brothers, Junior Havice and Charlie Havice; five grandchildren, Jennifer Swigert, Howard Putnam, Sherman Putnam, Jannetta Alexander, and George Stutesman; four sons-in-law, Bill Alexander, John Wakefield, and Sherman Putnam, Sr. She is survived by six children, daughter Donna and Jim Summers of Halfway, MO, daughter Tenney Wakefield of Buffalo, MO, daughter Daisy Moore of Lebanon, MO, daughter Janie Wakefield of Buffalo, MO, daughter Nancy and Mike Poterbin of Buffalo, MO, son John Swigert, Jr. of Buffalo, MO; 23 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Bonnie Havice. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, other family members, and many friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 1, 2021 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Pastor David Van Bebber officiating. Escorts will be John Falciano, James Stoddard, Kenneth Moore, Robert Sutton, J.D. Wheeler, and Robert Wakefield. Honorary escorts will be Nathan Poterbin and Tim Poterbin. Interment will be in the Oak Lawn Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Monday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Jannetta Swigert Funeral Fund or the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
