Jean Degraffenreid (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Wilma "Jean" DeGraffenreid, 90, of Bolivar, Missouri, passed away Thursday July 13, 2017, at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri.
Jean was born in Aldrich, Missouri, on November 5, 1926, to Ray and Opal (Acuff) Mitchell.
She married Ernest DeGraffenreid on November 16, 1947, in Bolivar, Missouri. They had one son Rick DeGraffenreid.
Jean worked as a teller for Polk County Bank, and earlier for South West Electric Company. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Bolivar, Missouri.
She is survived by: her son, Rick L. DeGraffenreid, of Quantico, Virginia; sister- in - law, Mary Mitchell; nephews, Ken Bruce, George Bruce, Gary Mitchell, and Larry Mitchell and Dr. Robert Watkins; nieces, Mary Bruce, Evelyn Camp, Elaine Huff, Jeanie Robinson and Zenna Kay Barnhart, along with many other beloved nieces, nephews and other friends and family who loved her dearly.
Jean was a real lady. Quiet and considerate of others, well mannered, and of even temperament. A wonderful friend and Aunt to those who knew her well.
Ernie and Jean enjoyed traveling all over the United States and following the Southwest Baptist Basketball Team. True to SBU, her favorite color was purple.
Jean loved to knit, do word searches, and completed numerous puzzles. She made a point of staying physically fit, which aided her in being long lived and of sound mind.
Services for Jean will be conducted by Dr. Ray Leininger 2:30 PM Sunday, July 16, 2017, at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri, with Dr. Robert Watkins, Robert Friend, George Bruce, Dale Huff, Jacob Thirion, and Gary Mitchell as pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at Butler Funeral Home, from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Burial will follow services in the Greenwood Cemetery, Bolivar, Missouri.
