Jean McQuay (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Anna Jean McQuay, daughter of Bradley and Emily Ruth Guthrie LaShay was born June 5, 1917 in Morrisville, Missouri and departed this life on May 13, 2013 in Villa St. Joseph Nursing Home in Overland Park, Kansas at the age of ninety-five years, eleven months and eight days.
Jean was united in marriage to A.M. “Doc” McQuay on September 27, 1947. “Doc” preceded her in death on January 3, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Ernest and Carlos LaShay. Jean is survived by her sister, Bonnie Hennessy and her husband, Richard. She also leaves a niece, Ruthanne Dunn, and great nephews, Patrick, Richard, John & Tim Dunn, five great-great nephews and two great-great nieces.
She earned a masters degree in education and taught French and English classes until she married “Doc”. She was a devoted wife and homemaker and a caring neighbor and friend.
Jean had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a very active member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church until her health began to fail. She was also a member of the P.E.O. and Order of the Eastern Star.
In her spare time she loved to read and she and “Doc” traveled extensively. She sewed beautifully for her family.
Jean was a loving sister and aunt and we will always cherish the wonderful memories and stories of times shared with her.
