Jeffrey Wayne Simmons (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Jeffrey Wayne (J.W.) Simmons, 49, Peculiar, MO, died at 11:58 p.m. Sunday, March 9th in Cox South Medical Center, Springfield, MO. Jeff was born in Independence, MO on August 2nd, 1964. He worked for over 25 years as a certified HVAC and maintenance technician in San Antonio, TX and the greater Kansas City area. Always a kid at heart, Jeff loved exploring nature, caring for and learning about animals, vintage toys, and all things Star Wars. He also prided himself on throwing the best Fourth of July party...with the best ribs. As an avid traveler, Jeff saw most of the National Parks at least once. From Alaska and Canada to Hawaii, he loved acquiring and sharing his "bear stories" up until his health no longer permitted.
Due to his genetic lung disorder, Alpha-1, Jeff was awaiting a new pair of lungs and as such was passionate about the organ donor program. Though Jeff did not live long enough to receive a transplant of his own, we are very proud that his final wishes as a donor himself will bless the lives of many. Psalms 118:24
He was preceded in death by his mother Betty L. (Austin) Simmons; father, Troy M. Simmons, brother, David L. Simmons; and infant sister; Barbara J. Simmons. He is survived by his sister, Linda G. Mohn of Peculiar, MO; four nieces, Sandra Morgan, Paula Mendez, Jennifer Myrick, and Barbara Mohn; two nephews, Philip and Troy Mohn; as well as 18 great-nieces and nephews. Burial will be held at Antioch Cemetery near Pittsburgh, MO.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made out to: Freeman Monument and mailed to Barbara Mohn, 8900 E. 227th St. Peculiar, MO 64078.
