Jennie Lund's Obituary
Jennie Ruth Boyer Lund, daughter of S.A. and Annie Fisher Boyer was born July 26, 1919 near Hartville, Missouri and departed this on July 5, 2010 in the Strafford Health Care Center in Strafford, Missouri at the age of ninety years, eleven months and nine days.
On November 1, 1935 at the tender age of 16 she was united in marriage to Arthur George Lund and to this union 5 children were born. Ruth and Art spent 57 loving years together before his passing on July 23, 1994.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Boyer and a sister, Mary Spencer.
Ruth is survived by three sons, Bill Lund and his wife Vickie of Tolleson, Arizona, Gene Lund and his wife Ruth of Springfield, Missouri and Jim Lund and his Maxine of Seymour, Missouri; two daughters, Dorothy Locke and her husband John of Norwood, Missouri and Kathie Hall and her husband Tim of Springfield, Missouri; her grandchildren, Sheila Lund, David Lund, Mike Lund, Jerry and Mercy Lund, James Lund, Jr., Michelle Lund, Marsha & Jerry Dalton, Evelyn and Alan Camby, Cheryl and Stan McClatchy, Danny Hall and Matt Hall; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Tom Boyer and Alvie Boyer both of Wichita, Kansas; sister-in-law, Esther Jones of Mansfield, Missouri; brother-in-law, Walter Lund of Holton, Kansas, several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Ruth spent her childhood in the Wright County area, roaming the countryside with her three brothers, Tom, Alvie and Frank, and her sister, Mary. After marriage to Art in 1935 they raised their children, Bill, Gene, Jim, Dorothy and Kathie on a small farm north of Mansfield..
She had given her life to Christ at an early age and spent many years worshipping and volunteering at the Victory Hill Church where she loved to brag on her kids and grandkids to all who would listen. After Art’s passing in 1994, she moved to Mansfield where she joined the Nazarene Church and attended there faithfully until she moved to Springfield and finally to Strafford.
She was an avid reader and collected many, many books over the years. She was loved and will be missed by all, but never forgotten. We Luv You Grandma!
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 9, 2010 in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield, Missouri. Burial will follow in Mansfield Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 6:30-8:00 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
