On August 3, 1989, he was united in marriage to Taelimu “Suzanna” Iele, and they shared the last twenty-four years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, David E. and George E. Roosa; and a grandson, D. J. Roosa.
Jerald is survived by his wife, Suzanna, of the home; three daughters, Melody Wright, Delores Aldridge, and her husband, Joseph, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Lita Osborne, and her husband, Cedric, of Waynesville, Missouri; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma Rose, of Scottsdale, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Kansas City, Missouri, and then joined the military when he was a young man. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from 1944 until 1946, during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, Jerald made his home in California for several years. It was during this time that he began working as a roofer for various roofing companies, and continued in that business for most of his life. He then moved to the Samoan Islands for four years, and met Suzanna. After they were married, they made their home in California for a few years, and then moved to Missouri in 1993, settling in Lebanon.
Jerald had made his profession of faith and was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Conway, Missouri.
In his leisure time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and playing golf. He loved his family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was very patriotic and was proud of his military service.
Jerald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
