Jerry E Dame (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Jerry Eugene Dame, son of Chester E. and Retha Hester Dame, was born May 16, 1941, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, June 16, 2010, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years and one month.
On July 31, 1965, he was united in marriage to Thelma Vaughn, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Burl Dame.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Thelma, of the home; a daughter, Darlene Buxton, and her husband, Taz, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Brian Dame, and his wife, Cathy, of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tania Hillhouse, Zac Buxton, Hope and Hunter Dame; two great-grandchildren, Isaac Hillhouse and Alex Grodin; eight brothers, Gearld Dame, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Donald Dame, of Conway, Missouri, Chet Dame, of Salina, Kansas, David, Delbert, and John Dame, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Gary Dame, of Long Lane, Missouri, and Danny Dame, of March, Missouri; three sisters, Vivian Fletcher, of Lebanon, Missouri, Vera Cline, of Versailles, Missouri, and Verna Armconnect, of Elkland, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was born and raised in the Lebanon and Laclede County area. For a short time he worked at a boat factory in Kansas City, Missouri, but soon returned to Lebanon. He then operated a gas service station before working for the H. D. Lee Company and Independent Stave Company. For the last several years, he had worked along side his son, Brian, as a plumbing contractor in their business, B & J Plumbing and Remodeling. He loved working with Brian and enjoyed operating their business.
Jerry had made his profession of faith in Christ and was baptized at the Greasy Creek Bridge, near Buffalo, Missouri, on May 30, 1971. He was a member of Washington Christian Church.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, fishing, caring for his lawn, and doing landscaping. He possessed excellent carpentry skills and had made several furniture items. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s ball games.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the memories he made for them throughout the years.
