Jerry D. Hartzell (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Jerry Dean Hartzell, son of Park and Anna Blackmore Hartzell, was born December 12, 1953, in the State of Oregon. He departed this life Monday, November 5, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-four years, ten months, and twenty-three days.
On April 25, 1987, he was united in marriage to Betty Ann Shrimpton, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his father.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Betty, of the home; two daughters, Janet Elliott, of Fulton, Missouri, and Linda Shaw, of Edwardsville, Illinois; a son, Tim Hartzell, of Marietta, South Carolina; seven grandchildren; his mother, Anna Hartzell, of Hayden, Idaho; a brother, Ken Hartzell, of Spokane Valley, Washington; a sister, Judy Frost, of the State of South Carolina; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Idaho and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School. He then entered the military as a young man and served his country faithfully in the United States Navy from 1971 until 1974 during the Vietnam Era. For part of that time he was stationed in Japan. After being honorably discharged, he made his home in Long Beach, California, where he began working in the heating and cooling industry. After he and Betty were married, they made their home in California until moving to Lebanon, Missouri, in 1992. Jerry continued to work in the same industry after moving to Lebanon, and worked for Quality Heating and Cooling and Henderson Heating and Cooling Co. for several years.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and hunting. He possessed a sweet personality and was very fun loving. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
