Jerry Edson Warner (Hartville)'s Obituary
Jerry Edson Warner, son of Percy Edson and Nora Edith Davis Warner, was born February 17, 1931 in St. George, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, December 19, 2015 in Cox Hospital, South, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, ten months, and two days.
On April 23, 1949, Jerry was united in marriage to Mattie Sue Cockerham, and together they shared sixty-five years, until her passing on April 6, 2015.
His parents; a granddaughter, Alexie Storm Haas; and a grandson, Adam John Warner, also preceded him in death.
Jerry is survived by his children, Mike Warner and wife Anita, of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Michelle Cantrell and husband Darryl, of Grovespring, Missouri, Brenda Liebnow and husband Russell, of Marshfield, Missouri, Patricia Haas and husband John, of Wind Lake, Wisconsin, and Rick Warner and wife Sandy, of West Allis, Wisconsin; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Margaret DeWater and husband, Malcolm, of Walled Lake, Michigan; a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
Jerry was born in St. George and spent his younger years living between Detroit, Michigan and Missouri. Jerry met Sue in Mobile, Alabama, and they were later married in Mississippi. Jerry devoted his working life to law enforcement and corporate security. He worked for many years as the Director of the Western Division of J.C. Penney Corporate Security, retiring after many years of service. He also served as the Vice President of the American Society for Industrial Security, Great Lakes Chapter, and taught Industrial Security at the Milwaukee Area Technical College.
Jerry and Sue moved back to the Hartville area in 1977. While living in Hartville, Jerry owned and operated a specialty advertising business.
In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed duck hunting, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle.
We celebrate his life and will treasure the many wonderful memories he has created for his family and many friends.
