Jerry Wittrock (Urbana)'s Obituary
Jerry Wittrock, of Urbana, Missouri passed away on December 25, 2023, in Fort Madison, Iowa peacefully in his sleep at the home of a daughter.
He was born and raised in Milford, Iowa helping his family farm. After graduation he spent two years in the Army and then married and raised five children on a farm in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
On February 17, 1992, he married Jeraldine (Jeri) in Hartley, Iowa and then moved to Urbana, Missouri in 1993, where they met and enjoyed the company of many great friends over the years.
Jerry farmed & ranched his entire life; loved being a cowboy and riding his horse, Toby. In 2022 he had to give up farming and hauling cattle to care for his wife after she became ill. After her passing his own health started to decline and he could not return to working.
He enjoyed meeting the guys at the Coffee Cup for breakfast and catching up on the latest news until Jeri passed. In his loneliness he found it more difficult to get out to socialize and spent countless hours watching his westerns and old television shows. These past few months brought several health scares and he was in the process of moving closer to family in Iowa at the time of his passing. He made his wishes known that he wanted to live out the remainder of his days at the home he shared with his wife and was not keen on moving to an assisted living facility. Even before he went to bed the night he passed, he gave his standard reply of “We’ll see about that!!” when discussing the assisted living home he was to move into the next day. As always, he did things his way and I’m sure he is now smiling down on us saying “I told you so”.
Dad is at peace now, spending Christmas in the arms of our Heavenly Father, his loving wife and loved ones who have gone before him.
Left to cherish his memory are his children: Robert (Sharon) Wittrock, Sioux City, Iowa, Karla (John) Eglseder, Guttenberg, Iowa, Kevin Wittrock, Dubuque, Iowa, Lori (David) Godfrey, Azle, Texas
