Jess Rhoades (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Jess Rhoades, son of Kelley and Carrie Shultz Rhoades, was born August
26, 1933, at Norwood, Missouri, and departed this life of October 18, 2010, in Cox Medical Center South in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, one month and twenty-two days.
On May 20, 1956, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Casaday and to this union one son, Phillip Alan Rhoades, was born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Kenth, Eldon, Roger and Omer Rhoades; seven sisters, Bertha Alexander, Connie Schudy, Margaret Faverty, Ruth Logan, Helen Allen, Pauline Halford, and Hester Moles.
Jess is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; son, Phillip Rhoades and his wife, Rhonda, of Garnett, Kansas; four grandchildren, Danielle, Amber, Jacob, and Kaitlyn Rhoades, all of Garnett, Kansas; two brothers, Rev. Dean Rhoades of Lebanon, Missouri, and Clyde Rhoades and his wife, Patsy, of Houston, Missouri; one sister, Loretta Kelly, and her husband, Garnett, of Norwood, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of many friends.
Jess was a plasterer, following in the footsteps of his dad and brothers. He did plaster and stucco work on many homes in the area. He loved his farm and being a farmer. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1953 until 1955 where he was chief cook.
He was converted at an early and was a faithful servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. He was a member of the Mansfield Church of the Nazarene.
Jess was a beloved friend and neighbor, always available to be of help to anyone and loved doing so. In his spare time he enjoyed woodcarving.
The void of his passing is only surpassed by the knowledge of the wonderful place he is now residing in with our Lord Jesus Christ. His presence will continue to be with us.
