Jessie Cyrus' Obituary
Jessie Everet Cyrus, son of Oscar Everet and Margaret Catherine Mosier Cyrus, was born, May 12, 1925, in Camdenton, Missouri. He departed this life, Wednesday, December 27, 2006, in his home in Marshfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, seven months and fifteen days. On June 7, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Billie Mae Loe and to this union four children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Donald Cyrus; a daughter, Diana Lynne Cyrus; an infant daughter, Kathleen Cyrus; four brothers, Edward, Roy, Glenn and Elbert Cyrus; and three sisters, Etta Evans, Mabel Webster, and Bonnie White. Survivors include his wife of fifty-nine years, Billie; a son, Jessie Cyrus, Jr. and his wife, Clare, of Marshfield, Missouri; two granddaughters, Dawn Cyrus of Elkland, Missouri, and Amber Cyrus of Marshfield, Missouri; a sister, Otie Meads of Camdenton, Missouri; and a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Jessie was raised in the Camdenton area; after graduation from high school, he enlisted in the United States Coast Guard. He proudly served his country in the Pacific during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Coast Guard, he moved to Kansas City, Missouri, and worked there for a time. He met and married his wife and after their marriage, they moved to the Eldridge, Missouri area. In 1957, he and his family moved to Marshfield, Missouri. Jessie worked for Show-Me Power for over forty-years. He began his career at the Tunnel Dam Hydro Plant and transferred to Marshfield to work as a dispatcher. He retired as a dispatcher foreman. He was a life-member of the VFW Post 4104 in Marshfield. He had served as Post Commander numerous times. He had also been a member of the American Legion in Marshfield. He and Billie attended Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Camdenton. In his spare time, Jessie was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed wood working. He was a bee keeper and kept an orchard. He was also a hunter education instructor. Jessie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the memories he created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 30, 2006 in Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
