Jessie Rogers' Obituary
Jessie Floyd Rogers, son of John William and Winnie Elizabeth Burgess Rogers, was born September 24, 1929, near Sleeper, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, February 9, 2008, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, four months, and fifteen days. He was preceded in death by his parents; six brothers, James, Dale, Bob, Johnny, Ellis, and Ernest Rogers; and two sisters, Pauline McCabe, and May Smith. Floyd is survived by a brother, Don Rogers, and his wife, Evaleen, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Betty Brown, of Lebanon, Missouri, Goldie Appleberry, of Butler, Missouri, and Minnie Looney, of Bristow, Oklahoma; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Sleeper community, and then made his home in Michigan for several years. After returning to the Lebanon area, he eventually became a resident of the Bland Senior Citizen Home, where he had many friends and was lovingly cared for by Ellen Horn and her staff. For the last few years, he had made his home in Christian Health Care South. He liked listening to the radio and enjoyed having quiet time alone. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with them. Floyd will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 12, 2008, in the Liberty Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.
