Jewel J. Stroup's Obituary
Jewel Jane Stroup, daughter of Jesse and Rosa Mae Hammer Jennings, was born December 17, 1915, near Corkery, in Dallas County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 6, 2006, in Christian Healthcare North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety years, two months, and nineteen days. On February 23, 1934, she was united in marriage to Fred Lee Stroup, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; two brothers; and three sisters. Jewel is survived by a daughter, Dolly Waugh, and her husband, Ray, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Paul Stroup, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Earl Stroup, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; six grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Dallas County, Missouri. After she and Fred were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area. In February of 1943, Fred was injured in a work accident and later died. This left Jewel to raise three small children from age 5 to 3 months. Jewel stayed home with her children until they were older and then worked outside of the home for several years. Jewel was saved in the 1940’s and had made her peace with the Lord. In her spare time she liked to sew and cook and was famous for her delicious banana cake. In her later years, she loved to read. Jewel will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and many friends. We celebrate her life and will treasure the memories she made for her family and friends. Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience.
