Jewell Chloe Adams (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Jewell Chloe Adams, daughter of Joe and Lettie (Daulton) Turner was born on November 21, 1927, and departed this life on January 17, 2023, at her home in Springfield, MO. At the time of her passing, she was 95 years and two months of age.
Chloe was born in Buffalo, Missouri and attended Engle School and New Liberty (Chicago) School, were she graduated the eighth grade. Chloe was saved in the fall of 1939 during a revival and was baptized to North Mount Pleasant Baptist Church. She grew up in Dallas County, Missouri, and married Cecil Adams on July 19, 1946. They moved to California shortly after marrying, then to Illinois, and back to Missouri where she worked at the Mill Street Laundry, and later became a homemaker and raised six children. She also volunteered at Cox Hospital in Springfield as a “Pink Lady” for over 20 years. Chloe enjoyed spending time with her family, loved working in her garden, annual family garage sales, and Friday night suppers with her family. Her specialty was making apple butter and canning green beans. She had a wonderful sense of humor, a big smile, quick witted, and never met a stranger.
Chloe was preceded in death by her husband Cecil; her parents; one grandson, Christopher Doke; three brothers, Billy Joe, James, and Bobbie Wayne Turner; and two sisters, Wanda Skinner and Betty Rogers. She is survive by her children, Linda (Junior) McCullough of Springfield, Missouri, Gene (Lynda) Adams of Elkland, Missouri, Brenda (Darrell) Fausett of Billings, Missouri, Glenda (Danny) Doke of Halfway, Missouri, P.J. (Tony) Hilburn of Springfield, Missouri, and Mike (Chris) Adams of Cape Fair, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Howe of Buffalo, Missouri and Evelyn Hale of Bolivar, Missouri. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, other family members and many friends who will all truly miss her.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 20, 2023 in the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home with Bro. Dennis Skinner officiating. Escorts will be Dwayne McCullough, Brian Doke, Brandon Doke, Brad Doke, Kyle Boyer, Billy Essick, Austin Essick, and Bryce Adams. Honorary escorts will be Jimmy Sartin, Devin McCullough, Blake Phillips, Tylar Essick, Kulley Christman, Kincade Christman, and Cody Kent. Interment will be in the Macedonia Cemetery under the care and direction of the Cantlon-Otterness & Viets Funeral Home of Buffalo. Visitation will be from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Macedonia Cemetery.
