Jewell Craig's Obituary
Jewell Dewey Craig, son of Roy L. and Maud (Corlett) Craig, was born November 4, 1918, in Mercer County, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, January 12, 2011, in Rocky Ridge Manor, in Mansfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-two years, two months and eight days. On October 14, 1940, he was united in marriage to Zula Elmira Yeager, and to this union one daughter was born. He was preceded in death by his wife, Zula; his parents; and three brothers, Owen, Leo, and Coy Craig. Left to mourn his departure are his daughter, Carol Giffin, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandchildren, Mark Giffin and wife, Lorrie, of Hartville, Missouri, and Michelle Underwood and husband, Richard, of Southlake, Texas; five great-grandchildren, Leanne Brown and husband, Lance, of Lebanon, Missouri, Kyra Giffin, of Hartville, Missouri, Alex See, of Southlake, Texas, Samantha See, of Austin, Texas, and Josh See, and wife, Rebecca, of Woodland Park, Colorado; one great-great-grandson, Caleb Brown, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Jewell accepted Christ during a revival in 1942 and was ordained to preach the gospel on December 4, 1958, in a Freewill Baptist Church in Jerome, Idaho. He pastored churches and held revivals as long as his health permitted and continued to fill in wherever he was needed. He loved God and his family. He enjoyed traveling, raising tomatoes and flowers and sharing them with his neighbors and friends. He especially enjoyed going to McDonalds of the mornings to network and visit with friends. Jewell was a loving and devoted pastor, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. We celebrate his life and his ministry, and cherish the memories he created for us. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him, and will live on it our hearts forever.
