Jewell Maple Bradshaw (Buffalo)'s Obituary
Jewell Maple Bradshaw peacefully left this earth to enter heaven with her Lord and Savior on July 23, 2021, at Buffalo Prairie Care Center with family members present. She was 97 years, 10 months, and 23 days old.
Jewell (or “Jick” as her nine siblings called her) was born on September 5, 1923, to parents Charlie and Dona Looney in Dallas County, MO. She attended school in Louisburg, MO.
Jewell met Audie Bradshaw at the Louisburg Picnic and they married shortly thereafter in Pittsburgh, MO. To this union three children were born. Audie and Jewell attended Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church of Polk County where, at the age of 17, Jewell was saved near the altar of the church. She remained a faithful member of the church for 80 years.
Audie and Jewell began married life by going to California, but Huckaby in Polk County was home and they soon returned to Missouri. They farmed for a few years but after a harsh winter and drought they bought a grocery store in Pittsburgh, MO. From there they owned grocery stores in Fair Play and Urbana, MO. Jewell worked in the stores everyday alongside Audie. After selling the Fair Play and Urbana stores their last business together was a café at Preston, MO. Two years later they bought a small farm at the city limits of Urbana where they built a new home and retired. Following Audie’s passing, Jewell worked part-time at Mr. Ed’s for a couple of years. She thereafter continued to enjoy going to church, playing dominoes, working and sitting outdoors, shopping with friends, and having her children and grandchildren visit her.
Jewell is survived by her daughter, Sandra King of Rolla, MO; son Timmy Bradshaw of Urbana, MO; five grandchildren, Tracy James & husband Doug of Rolla, MO, Derik King & wife Jackie of Ladue, MO, Kevin King of St. Louis, MO, Jeremy Bradshaw & wife Juli of Clever, MO, Meleshia Colfer of Springfield, MO; eight great-grandchildren, Kayla Capps & husband Clint of Rolla, MO, Kelsi James of San Antonio, TX, Kathryne King, Sarah King and Sam King all of Ladue, MO, Tanner Bradshaw of Clever, MO, Isabelle Colfer and Elianna Colfer of Springfield, MO; two great-great-grandsons, Carter Capps and Corbin Capps of Rolla, MO. She also leaves behind several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. She will be greatly missed.
Jewell was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Audie Bradshaw; infant son Larry Gene Bradshaw; daughter-in-law Carla Bradshaw; and her nine siblings.
