Jim 's Obituary
James John O’Neil, son of John Paul and Catherine Burkhardt O’Neil, was born November 17, 1928, in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life Saturday, April 22, 2006, in his home, in Edwards, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, five months, and five days. On August 3, 1963, in Fulton, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Helen “Jo” M. Christian and to this union one son and two daughters were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Jo, on January 25, 2004; and a sister, Peggy Jasper. Jim is survived by a son, Michael O’Neil, and his wife, Debbie, of St. Louis, Missouri; two daughters, Jamie E. Smith, of Godfrey, Illinois, and Peggy Beem, and her husband, Randy, of Edwards, Missouri; two grandsons, Dakota John Smith, and Wyatt Gene Smith; a brother, Jack O’Neil, and his wife, Pat, of Ventura, California; a sister, Eileen Holschen, and her husband, Roy, of Bloomington, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the St. Louis area and attended Soldane High School there. He served his country faithfully in the United States Navy during World War II. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he returned to St. Louis, where he and Jo lovingly raised their family. Jim was a partner in Municipal Tool and Machinery in St. Louis until retiring. Then he and Jo made their home at the Lake of the Ozarks. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post # 3600 in Climax Springs, Missouri. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing, hunting, and boating. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandsons. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend to so many. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Visitation will be held from 3 - 8:00 p.m. Saturday, April 29, 2006, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Memorial donations to VFW Post 3600 - Ladies Auxillary may be made through the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
