Jim Brown (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Jim passed away on February 8, 2024, at home surrounded by his loving family after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born in Providence, Kentucky on June 30, 1943, to Issac and Susie (Trail) Brown. He spent his early years in Southern California. Jim graduated from Excelsior High School in Norwalk, California in 1961. Jim married the love of his life Linda that same year. To this union two sons were born, David and Robert. While living in California he worked at Autonetics where he worked on an Apollo Space Project. Jim also worked at General Motors. He moved his family to Missouri in 1968. He worked in sales and purchased a small farm in Halfway. In 1972 he moved his family to Bolivar where he purchased the farm, he called home for the remainder of his life. He was a dairy farmer before opening Brown’s Tractor in 1980, a farm equipment business just west of Bolivar. Jim owned and operated Brown’s Tractor for 37 years. During this time, he met many customers that turned into lifelong friends. Jim had many hobbies including traveling, flying his airplanes, collecting and working on cars, shopping, going to auctions, and finding good deals. Jim had a contagious laugh. He always gave compliments that would make you smile and brighten your day. Jim never knew a stranger. Family was Jim’s pride and joy. Preceding him in death is his son Robert, his parents Isaac and Susie, two brothers Hayden and Doyle, and one sister Thelma. Jim is survived by his wife Linda of 62 years; son David and his wife Lisa of Bolivar; grandchildren Jacob (Ashton) Brown, Haleigh (Brandon) Barnes, and Hannah (Michael) Childress; sister Roma; sister-in-law Laura; and many nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by family, friends, and loved ones. Visitation will be at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar on Monday, February 12th from 5-7pm. Graveside service will be on Tuesday, February 13th at 10am at Barren Creek Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Jim G. Brown 80 of Bolivar, MO passed away Thursday, February 8, 2024. Services are pending and will be announced by the Butler Funeral Home of Bolivar, MO. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Monday February 12, 2024 at the the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar MO. Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 13, 2024 at the Barren Creek Cemetery.
