Jim W. Hensley, 87, Bolivar, MO, passed away, Saturday, January 16, 2016 at Citizens Memorial Hospital in Bolivar, MO.
Jim was born November 6, 1928 near Slagle, MO, being the second of 3 children born to Lonnie and Arah (Gregg) Hensley. Jim married Alice Lucille McCarthy on May 23, 1947 and from this union three children were born. Jim and Alice enjoyed 60 wonderful years of marriage before her death in 2007. He was one of 13 saved at a revival at Walnut Ridge (Van) Missionary Baptist Church in October 1947. He joined the church and was baptized in the Pomme De Terre River in 1949. Jim was an electrical lineman in the 50's working on the road to gather enough money to purchase his farm seven miles southeast of Bolivar, where he operated a dairy until the late sixties. He then worked as an IBEW electrician in the seventies, eventually becoming the business agent for local 453 in Springfield, Mo. After retiring from the IBEW he raised beef cattle on his farm, dabbled in real estate, and enjoyed traveling with Alice and his many friends from Eastern Star. Later in life he enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In his final years of life he was very grateful for the opportunity to attend many revival meetings.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother; his sisters, Deloris and Phyliss; his wife Alice. Jim is survived by his two sons, Dale & his wife Anita of Kansas City, Mo; John and his wife Brenda of Bolivar, Mo; one daughter, Glenda Patterson and her late husband Roger Patterson of Springfield, MO; Ten grandchildren, Doug Hensley and his wife Kara of Leawood, KS; Paul Hensley and his wife Shekinah of Kansas City, Mo; Cheryl Hite of Springfield, Mo; Wes Sampson of LaJolla, CA; Lonnie Hensley and his wife Ashley of Bolivar, MO; Bryan Hensley and his wife Crystal of Bolivar, MO; Lisa Grant and her husband Jason of Springfield, MO;
Homer, Katy, and Sarah Hensley of Bolivar, MO; Twelve Great Grandchildren, and a
host of many friends and loved ones.
