Jim Tennis' Obituary
Mr. James 'Jim' Seth Tennis, age 70 of Bolivar, passed away early Sunday Morning, November 16, 2008 in his home. He was born on July 26, 1938 in Greene County Missouri the son of Lowell F. Tennis and Marjorie (Hoggard) Tennis. Jim attended Central High School in Springfield and enlisted in the Air Force in July, 1955 at the age of 17. Jim was saved in a revival meeting at Campbell Grove Church in July, 197 and joined there and was the first person baptized by Brother Ernie Presley. Jim served as Sunday School Superintendent for several years and was a faithful member as long as his health permitted. He very much looked forward to the completion of the new Church and was hoping his health would permit his going back. Unfortunately he missed seeing the completion of the new building by a few days. Jim was a Real Estate Broker and was a past president of the Ozarks Board of Realtors. He was most recently associated with Hutcheson-Coker Real Estate until this summer when he accepted the fact that he would not be able to work again. Jim was past Worshipful Master of the Masonic Lodge and was a member of the Bolivar Lodge #195 A.F. & A.M. and the Eastern Star. He was a very talented singer and had sung with different gospel groups, the most recent being Crystal River. He was well known for his rendition of Amazing Grace and was requested to sing that many times. Jim was married to Ethel Mae Reynolds on February 6, 1972 and they were blessed with 36 plus years. He was preceded in death by his parents, his daughter Kelly, his brother Larry and father in-law and mother-in-law Alpha and Lorene Redford. Surviving is his wife Ethel Mae Tennis of the home. His daughter Cyndi and Ethel Mae's children Brenda and Randy. Also surviving are his brother's family of the Mississippi area. He is also survived by his Church family whom he loved deeply as well as many friends. Services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday November 20, 2008 at the Butler Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home at their convenience under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home Bolivar, Missouri.
