Jim Veit's Obituary
Jim Veit, son of Paul Harold and Fern Sherman Plumb Veit, was born September 23, 1942 in Mansfield, Missouri and departed this life on July 10, 2012 in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty-nine years, nine months and seventeen days.
On January 26, 1968 he was united in marriage to Nancy Dennis and to this union two children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Stacy Veit on November 16, 1998; mother-in-law, Leona Smith; brother-in-law, Walter “Sonny” Dennis and his step-father, William Plumb.
Jim is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home; his son, Rance Veit of Mansfield; two grandsons, Chandler Veit of Mansfield and Grant Veit of Springfield; a great-grandson, Rylan Thomas of Nixa; his brother, Larry Veit of Ava; two brothers-in-law and their wives; William and Pam Dennis of Nixa and Harold and Patty Dennis of Mansfield along with other relatives and many friends.
Jim was a lifelong Mansfield resident and graduated from Mansfield High School in the Class of 1960. He then entered the United States Army and after serving his country faithfully he began working at Mans-Steel in 1969 and worked there for 41 years, retiring in 2010.
He made a profession of faith in Christ many years ago and was a member of the Mansfield First Assembly of God Church. Jim and Nancy have worked together in children’s ministry for 35 years serving as children’s pastors at Mansfield for the past 15 years.
In his spare time he loved riding his motorcycle.
Jim loved God and family and never knew a stranger. He had a laugh that could make other people laugh uncontrollably and he loved that. He was a great man who would do anything he could to help someone in need.
Jim was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and brother-in-law and a caring neighbor and friend. We are saddened at his passing but we know that the laughter in Heaven is now uncontrollable and what a smile he has on his face.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M., Friday, July 13, 2012 in Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield with burial and military honors to follow in the Mansfield Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mansfield First Assembly of God Church/Children’s Church Fund. No formal visitation is planned.
