Jimmie Beckner (Buffalo)'s Obituary
James Leland Beckner (Jimmie) passed from this lifetime on March 25, 2018 at 2:30 p.m. He was at home with his wife, Mary Lou; his daughter, Rebecca; and his son, James.
He was born in Buffalo, MO on March 3, 1939 and moved from town to town with his mother, Thelma Irene Flanagan Beckner and his older sister, Jean Bennett while his father Aaron Ezra Beckner served in the Navy during WWII. The Beckner family purchased a farm on Highway H and Jimmie Began attending Buffalo High School when he was a junior. He loved and excelled at basketball with a winning team. There he met his future wife, Mary Louise Shewmaker in 1954. For five years Jimmie and Mary Lou planned their future. He went to welding school in Cleveland and she went to Springfield Beauty Academy.
On April 12, 1959, Jimmie and Mary Lou were joined in matrimony at the First Baptist Church in Buffalo. Jimmie and Mary Lou were blessed with a daughter, Rebeca Louise Beckner of Orlando, FL and James Leland Beckner II of the home.
Jimmie was a car dealer and owned a car lot and a shop. He threw the Springfield Newspaper for 21 years. He and Mary Lou were co-owners of the Parish-Beckner Funeral home, which is now Cantlon Otterness & Viets Funeral Home. Jimmie was the public administrator and coroner of Dallas County, and a jack of all trades; He was an excellent carpenter. But overall, he was a much loved husband, father and family member.
Jimmie is survived by his wife, Mary Lou Beckner; his 2 children, Rebecca (Rayna) Beckner and James Beckner; one brother, Joe (Karina) Beckner of Lee Summit, MO; one sister, Linda (Tom) Jarrett of Carl Junction, MO; one cousin, Larry Beckner; one aunt Dean Beckner; one half-brother, Bruce Beckner of Honduras; one half-sister, Kelly (Virgil) Rader of Marshfield, MO; and his shop kitty, Tire Baby and a much loved Maltese named Orbit. He also leaves many friends behind who will all truly miss him.
