Jimmie Napier's Obituary
Jimmie Columbus Napier, son of George Columbus and Alma Elizabeth (Hyder) Napier was born June 5, 1946 Near Seymour in Wright County, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Manor Care in Springfield, Missouri at the age of sixty four years, one month and fifteen days.
On August 11, 1967 he was united in marriage to Joyce Mae Johnson and to this union two children were born. His daughter, Jolynn Kay Napier preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Otis, Olen and Howard Napier; and two sisters, Betty Davis and an infant, Goldie Napier.
Jim was survived by his wife Joyce, of the home; a son, James “Jamie” Napier and his fiancée Jennifer Wallin, of Macomb, Missouri; a granddaughter, Katelyn Napier, of Ozark, Missouri; two brothers, Elbert Eugene “Gene” Napier, of Seymour, Missouri and Bill Napier and his wife, Shirley, of Hartville, Missouri; four sisters, Bertha Bennett, of Macomb, Missouri, Patsy Glenn, of Ozark, Missouri, Dorothy Alexander and her husband, Leroy, of Aurora, Missouri, and Geneva Johnson of Seymour, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; his mother-in-law, Betty (Johnson) Bailey and her husband, Alvin, of Seymour, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Herman Johnson and his wife, Susie, of Seymour, Missouri; and a host of other relatives and many friends.
He grew up on the family farm northeast of Seymour in Wright County, Missouri and attended the Mansfield Schools. After he and Joyce were married he continued to operate a dairy farm and was well known for his farming skills.
Jim had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior early in his life and was a member of the Antioch Baptist Church near his home. In his spare time he collected knives and old records, especially those made by Box Car Willie, Hank Williams, Sr. and Willie Nelson. He also enjoyed being a member of the Seymour CB Club as long as it was active.
Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the special memories he created for his family and friends.
Services are 10:30 a.m., Friday July 23, 2010 in Holman-Howe Chapel in Seymour, Missouri with Reverend Melvin Napier officiating with burial in Antioch Cemetery northeast of Seymour under direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Visitation is 7-8 p.m., Thursday in the funeral home.
