Jimmy Blackburn's Obituary
Jimmy Dee Blackburn, son of Edward and Ruby Ismy Blackburn, was born February 2, 1942, in Lebanon, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, July 29, 2008, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of sixty-six years, five months, and twenty-seven days. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Burt and Floyd “Dewey” Blackburn; and three sisters, Onabell Hoffman, Rosella Lee Williams, and Katey Ogle. Jimmy is survived by four daughters, Tammy Porter, Angie Van Patten, and Marilyn Blackburn, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Tonya Blackburn, of Stoutland, Missouri; two sons, Jackie Blackburn, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Jimmy Blackburn, Jr., and his wife, Shelly, of Stoutland, Missouri; ten grandchildren, Richard Porter, Jr., Ethan Porter, Brian Blackburn, Chad Brown, Jacquelyn Blackburn, Ashley Blackburn, Allen Blackburn, Ayla Van Patten, Tiffany McCracken, and Samantha Stradt; four great-grandchildren, Michael Porter, Donivan, Tret, and Brice McCracken; a brother, Granville Blackburn, and his wife, Wilma, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Lebanon area. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1961 until being honorably discharged in 1967. He then returned to the Lebanon and Stoutland area and made his home. Later in his life, he attended barber school, earned his cosmetology license, and worked as a barber at Fort Leonard Wood for several years. Jimmy had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Pentecostal faith. He liked being outdoors where his favorite activities were fishing and playing with his dog, Suzie. He was talented at fixing things and also was an avid reader. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jimmy was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 10:00 am Monday August 4, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in the White Oak Pond Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon 3-4:30 pm.and are under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon, Missouri.
