"Sergeant Dunfield at work, Jimmy D outside of work or whatever you want if you bring me a drink." That is what he told me the first day I met him.
Jimmy D was one of the people I learned the most from during my time in the military. He always had time to help.
I will always remember him getting annoyed with me when I got the whole shop to go to play Laser tag. "This was just an evil ploy to get me to exercise, wasn't it?"
He will be missed.
Funniest memory involving "Jimmy D" ...while stationed together in Sunnyvale AFS, a bunch of us got together for a campout at a local park. many shenanigans were committed. Much later that night, I and a few others attempted to coax a litter of raccoon cubs upon Jimmy's Sleeping bag & cot as he was slumbering. Needless to say, Momma 'coon and Jimmy was not happy campers...lol
Jimmy, Sophie and I walked the Bay-to-breakers in San Francisco a few times. Some of the best concerts I went to were with Jimmy, Meatloaf as well as Rolling Stones on Halloween. Rocky Horror Picture Show in San Jose and Saturday nights at the San Jose Mile with dirt clods in our beers. Miss you man.
I just found out yesterday that Jimmy had left us. I was stationed at McClellan AFB, CA from April 82 to September 83. I was in the Security Police. During my time there I had to move into the Communication Squadron Dorm. Jimmy was one of the first people I met there. Sitting in the Day Room with a litre can of Foster's Beer. He made you feel like he knew you all your life. There was a lot of fun there. Sadly the USAF makes everyone go on. I lost touch with him after I transferred to Turkey in 1983. But he was on of the many special People I met over the years. Fortunately we reconnected through Face Book and had many a great laugh. Jimmy, I know the first thing Jesus handed you a cold can of Foster's. Jimmy, you were and always will be a great Friend. A Friend to many. God Speed Jimmy

My Uncle Jimmy was a great person. I’m his niece, Chrissy from Michigan. He and I kept up with each other on Facebook. He was my biggest fan. I enjoyed his road videos, his wildlife vids and we both enjoyed some good comedy. He was never able to meet my children, sadly. In our conversations I shared with him family photos, I’ll share two here. First one is Uncle Jimmy as a baby side by side of me when I was a baby. The Dunfield genetics are strong lol The second photo is my son…Jimmie.
I will miss my Uncle very much! 😢
