Joan Marie Martin (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Joan Marie Martin was born July 3, 1950 in Los Angeles, California to William Martin and Virginia Barreau Martin. She passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri. She was seventy-three years, eight months and fourteen days of age at the time of her passing.
Joan was raised in California and graduated from High School there. In 1972 she moved with her husband to Missouri. She enjoyed being a homemaker for several years while raising their three daughters. She also adapted well to farm life and taking care of chickens, ducks, pigs, and row cropping.
She is survived by her daughters, Sarah Price and her husband Scot of Falcon, Missouri, Nancy Simpson and her husband Brian of Nixa, Missouri and Pamela Shelby of Detroit, Michigan; four grandchildren, Marshall Winkler, Stone Simpson, Harper June Simpson and Lucy Shelby; her sisters, Deanna Barreau of New York and Sharon McAvoy and her husband Rick of Lebanon, Missouri; and her brother, Harry Engels of Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virginia and William.
As the kids grew up and the house became empty, Joan decided it was time to work outside the home and began her employment with the State of Missouri in the Office of Aging. She enjoyed this position and made many friends while making a difference in the lives of those she served.
Joan stayed in close contact with her friends and loved her dog, Magic. She was a caring and compassionate woman and will be very missed by those who knew and loved her.
