Joan R. Jackson's Obituary
Joan Roberta Jackson, daughter of Walter Robert and Laura Elizabeth Cory Guilotte, was born December 6, 1934, in Gary, Indiana. She departed this life Saturday, June 10, 2006, in her home, near Climax Springs, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, six months, and four days. On January 16, 1954, in Matteson, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Hobart Harry Jackson, Jr., and to this union one son and one daughter were born. Her parents preceded her in death. Joan is survived by her loving husband of fifty-two years, Hobart, of the home; a son, Gary Jackson, and his wife, Sally, of Matteson, Illinois; a daughter, Cynthia Grizzle, and her husband, Dave, of Gulfport, Mississippi; two grandchildren, Amber Jackson, of Park Forest, Illinois, and Russell Jackson, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Alamogordo, New Mexico; two step-grandchildren, Lisa Sigworth, and her husband, Scott, of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Amy Grizzle, of Biloxi, Mississippi; a step-great-granddaughter, Kalee Sigworth; her identical twin sister, Kay Blan, and her husband, Donald, of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; a brother, Carl Guilotte, and his wife, Frances, of Maryville, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born in Indiana, and then moved with her family to Matteson, Illinois when she was four years old. She graduated from Thornton Township High School in the Class of 1952. She started dancing at the age of three and was a Master Dance instructor for forty years, many of those years as owner and instructor at Dance With Jo Studio in Matteson. She did all of this while being a devoted homemaker and loving mother to her family. In addition to being an outstanding dance instructor, she also was a talented seamstress. She was a twenty-five year member of Dance Masters of America. In September of 1996, she and Hobart moved to the Lake of the Ozarks and made their home. Joan made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of the St. John’s Faith United Church of Christ in Matteson, Illinois for many years. After retiring to the Lake area, she attended Climax Springs Presbyterian Church, where she was active in many church activities. She was always active in local events and was a member of the Lake Cloggers, Fifty and Holding Club, New Comers Club, Christian Women’s Club, Coffman Bend Red Hat Mamas, Coffman Bend Flames, and Coffman Bend Storms Auxiliary. She had performed with the Sunrise Beach Little Theatre and had been in the Mrs. Senior Missouri Pageant. She also was active in and assisted her husband as president of the Climax Springs Civic Center. She loved to swim and had been a certified lifeguard. She was an excellent water skier and performed ballet moves on skis. She possessed endless energy and a true passion for life. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and loyal friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2006, in the Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Camdenton. Visitation will follow the service until 8:00 p.m. A second service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, June 17, 2006, in Skyline Memorial Gardens, Monee, Illinois. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. Saturday, June 17 2006, in Hirsch Lincolnway Funeral Home, Matteson, Illinois. Memorial donations to Benton County Hospice or Climax Springs Presbyterian Church. Services are under the direction of Allee-Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
