Joanne Robison (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Joanne Louise Robison, daughter of Walter and Dorothy Jorgenson Salmela, was born October 7, 1938, in Kingston, Minnesota. She departed this life Saturday, February 13, 2016, in her home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-seven years, four months, and six days.
On July 28, 1956, she was united in marriage to Harold “Rob” Robison, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a daughter, Stacy Michelle Robison.
Joanne is survived by her loving husband of fifty-nine years, Harold, of the home; a daughter, Patricia VanAbbema, and her husband, Edward, of Milton, Florida; two sons, James W. Robison, of Stoutland, Missouri, and Steven Jay Robison, and his wife, Carol, of Salem, Missouri; five grandchildren, Charity Harrison, and her husband, Charlie, Shelly Vaughn, and her husband, Phillip, James Michael, Jacob, and Ryan Robison; a number of great-grandchildren; a brother, Ray Salmela, and his wife, Reta, of Missoula, Montana; a sister, Lue Jackson, of Litchfield, Minnesota; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Minnesota, where she graduated from high school. After she and Harold were married, they made their home in various locations while Harold was serving for twenty-six years in the United States Air Force as an aircraft electronic technician. Joanne was a supportive wife and devoted homemaker to her family during the military years, as they lived in South Dakota, Texas, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Washington, and other locations. In addition to being a homemaker, Joanne also worked in accounting and administrative positions at several of the air force bases. She had worked for Safeco Insurance in Spokane, Washington for a time as well.
Joanne was a lifelong, faithful Lutheran - Missouri Synod and loved her Lord and Savior.
She greatly liked being outdoors where her favorite activities were to go fishing and hunting. Her family was very dear to her and she enjoyed every opportunity to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Joanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her seventy-seven years.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Institute for Cancer Research, and left at the funeral home.
