Joe Keith Bartholomew, son of Bobby J. and Kathleen McMasters Bartholomew, was born May 9, 1962, in Fort Campbell, Kentucky. He departed this life Monday, June 17, 2013, near his home, in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of fifty-one years, one month, and eight days.
His father preceded him in death.
Joe is survived by his fiancée, Brenda Parks, of the home; his mother, Kathleen Bartholomew, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri; two brothers, Greg Bartholomew, of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, and Tod Bartholomew, and his wife, Paula, of Cincinnati, Ohio; a sister, Denise Hancock, and her husband, Chris, of New Albany, Indiana; four nieces and nephews, Jessica, Nicholas, Conrad, and Sydney; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was raised in Union, Missouri, and graduated from Union High School. He attended Missouri University and then completed his degree at St. Louis College of Pharmacy. He worked for Medicare-Glazier in St. Louis for a year and then purchased Joe’s Pharmacy in Lebanon in 1991. He had made his home on the Lake of the Ozarks for the last several years.
Joe had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church in Union, Missouri. He continued to follow the Baptist faith throughout his life.
He was a member of the Laclede County Masonic Lodge # 83 A.F. & A.M. of Lebanon, the Laclede County Shrine Club, Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, National Rifle Association, National Turkey Federation, and had played on a Lebanon softball team. He greatly enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were turkey and deer hunting and fishing. He also liked spending time at the Lake of the Ozarks.
Joe was an intelligent businessman who possessed a delightful sense of humor and always had a positive outlook on life. His favorite expression, “It’s All Good”, was reflective of his good heartedness and attitude toward life. He was very generous to the Lebanon community and to every worthwhile cause. He was blessed with the gift of gab, never met a stranger, and knew how to be a true friend.
Joe was a loving fiancé, son, brother, and uncle, and was a kind and caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family, pharmacy staff, customers and friends.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, and left at the funeral home.
