Joe Gallivan (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Joe Deryll Gallivan, age 70, died peacefully in his home on September 24, 2017 at Lake Ozark, MO. He was born on January 1, 1947 to E. Deryll Gallivan and Mary V. Stewart Gallivan.
Joe was a 1964 graduate of Bolivar High School and attended Southwest Baptist College before joining the Air Force Band in 1966.
He married Cheri Lynn Hopkins on December 30, 1966 in Bolivar. To this union 3 daughters were born, Stacy Jo, Laura Lynn and MeriAnn.
After serving his country for 4 years, he returned to Rantoul, IL where he worked as a funeral director. He later was employed in finance and insurance at several car dealerships in Illinois and the St. Louis area.
Joe loved being around people. He entertained them with his singing, guitar playing and storytelling. He also enjoyed playing golf.
Joe is preceded in death by his father, Deryll Gallivan and brother, Michael Gallivan.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Gallivan; 3 daughters, Stacy Jones, Laura Pacunas and MeriAnn Gallivan; a faithful, caring friend, Ellen Bradley; one sister, Sue White and husband Jim; 3 grandchildren, Quentin Jones, Myles Jones and Haley Pacunas; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
