Joe Neal (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Joe Glen Neal, son of Glen and Selma Mathis Neal, was born May 19, 1940 in Niangua, Missouri and departed this life on Thursday, July 5, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-eight years, one month, and sixteen days.
On November 4, 1960, he was united in marriage to Nancy Helen Hall and to this union three children were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, J.C. Neal.
Joe is survived by his wife, Nancy; daughter, Elaine Butterfield and husband, Allen, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two sons, Derrick Neal and wife, Theresa, of Mansfield, Missouri and Brett Neal and wife, Jennie, of Kansas City, Missouri; eleven grandchildren, Paige Womack and husband, Jordan, Phillip Butterfield, Amanda McIntosh and husband, Ben, Joe Neal and wife, Brittany, Emily Dobson and husband, J.D., Sean Neal, Sydney Neal, Morgan Neal, Taylor Neal, Audrey Naylor and Blakely Neal; 5 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Joyce Danner and Janice Hayter; several nieces and nephews other relatives and friends.
Joe was born in Niangua and raised in Springfield, where he graduated from Central High School in the Class of 1958 and later attended Southwest Missouri State University. He went to work for the City of Springfield for 2 years as a draftsman and then for Hutchens Steel Industries. Joe moved his family to Mansfield in 1974 where he was the foundry manager of the Hutchens plant in Mansfield retiring in 2001 after 37 years with the company.
Joe had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Mansfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He served as mayor and alderman for the City of Mansfield, also a member of the American Foundryman Society, former member of the Mansfield Lions Club, and served as President of Mansfield Community Center board.
In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and had a passion for woodworking.
Joe was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will always remember the many special times we had together.
