JoEtta Buck
JoEtta Buck, daughter of Virgil Franklin and Nancy Etta Huse Grisham, was born July 6, 1937 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life on April 13, 2012 in Gainesville Health Care Center in Gainesville, Missouri at the age of seventy-four years, nine months and seven days.
She was united in marriage to Richard Buck on August 26, 1968 in Miami, Oklahoma.
JoEtta was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; a brother, Merlyn Wayne Grisham and his wife Peggy Sue of Blue Ridge, Georgia; Anna Maragouthakis whom JoEtta raised as well as several nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
JoEtta was born in Springfield and attended Central High School. In her teens and twenties she worked as a cosmetic sales person in large department stores in New York City and Trenton, New Jersey. Using historical family recipes, she developed a family cookbook, which included many sketches drawn by author and artist Aunt Mary Holman, for family and friends.
She was a devout Catholic and was active in the Catholic Church in O’Fallon and St. Louis, Missouri. She was currently a member of the St. Williams Parish in Gainesville, Missouri.
In her spare time, JoEtta enjoyed reading, cooking, canning, crafts and art work in both oil and watercolor mediums. Traveling and visiting with friends and family were her passions.
JoEtta was a loving wife, sister and aunt and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will always cherish the many wonderful memories.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 18, 2012 in the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mansfield with visitation immediately following in the church. Graveside services will be Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. in the Holman Cemetery in Laclede County.
