Johanna Jacoba Couch (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Johanna Jacoba Couch, daughter of Hendrik Arend Jan and Anna Alijda Oeges Luyerink, was born July 6, 1922, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. She departed this life Friday, September 17, 2010, in Christian Health Care South, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, two months, and eleven days.
On October 6, 1950, in Chicago, Illinois, she was united in marriage to Edgar E. Couch, who preceded her in death on December 19, 2005.
Her parents also preceded her in death.
Johanna is survived by several good friends.
She was born and raised in Amsterdam, and then came to the United States. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States on March 17, 1953, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. She met and married Edgar in Chicago, Illinois and then lived in various places including California for several years. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband, Johanna also worked as a Registered Nurse for Veterans Hospitals across the country. In 1987, Johanna and Edgar purchased a farm near Conway, Missouri, and made their home. In 2007, Johanna sold the farm and moved into Lebanon.
Johanna was raised in the Catholic faith.
She enjoyed following politics and was a member of the Republican Party. She and Edgar enjoyed traveling. She loved animals and was a generous supporter of the Humane Society. She especially enjoyed cats and had raised several.
Johanna will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
