John Ashley (Bolivar)'s Obituary
John Loyd Ashley passed away peacefully at home in Bolivar, Missouri on March 31, 2023. He was the husband of Andrea Sue (Asbury) Ashley. They shared 60 years of marriage together.
John was born in Mohawk, Tennessee on December 7, 1937. After graduating from Belvidere High School in 1956, he joined the Army and was in the 101st Airborne Division. He attended Southern Illinois University. While living in Iowa, he enjoyed coaching many events in which his children participated. John’s last employment was as the plant manager for NI Industries at various locations in California. He retired in 2004 after which he and Sue moved to Bolivar.
John enjoyed traveling, golf, and getting together with family and friends. John was fiercely loved by his family and friends, and he loved them back with the same ferocity. He had a strong character, he valued hard work, integrity, and honesty. He wanted the best for everyone he cared about. If you were lucky enough to spend time with John, you know the twinkle in his eye and sly smile he’d give you when he was joking. We will all miss his sense of humor and his storytelling.
John is survived by his wife, Sue, daughter, Angie (Doug) Benson, son, John Andrew Ashley; his sisters, Marie Dixon, Margaret Hellrung, brother, Robert (Ann) Ashley; grandchildren, Sara (Matt) Edwards, Jessica (Jason) Reid, Paul Rawson, Michelle Benson, Carissa Rawson, Bryan Benson, Jillian Ashley, Jennifer (Neil) Boden, great-grandchildren, Jack Kelly, Paxton Boden, Reese Kelly, Lincoln Edwards, Bennett Boden, Henry Reid, Archer Edwards, Ezra Edwards, Charlie Anderson, Hayden Reid, Brooks Edwards, and beloved nieces, nephews, and families.
