John Conoboy (Lebanon)'s Obituary
John Conoboy, son of Patrick and Sarah Connelly Conoboy, was born November 24, 1932, in Stone Lake, Wisconsin. He departed this life Monday, January 8, 2018, in Mercy Hospital, in Joplin, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, one month, and fifteen days.
On June 25, 1961, he was united in marriage to Dolores Rae Farrington, and they lovingly raised one daughter.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores, in 2002; three brothers, Jimmy, Patrick and Martin; and two sisters, Dolly and Marie.
John is survived by a daughter, Lynnetta Payton, and her husband, Orville “Gus” Payton, III, of Buffalo, Missouri; a brother, Steve Conoboy, of Chicago, Illinois; a sister, Dori Church, of Chicago, Illinois; special nieces and nephews, Sheila and Tony Majecki, Karen and Don Smith, Margie and Richard Meyers, and Donna and Steve Bartels; a special caregiver, Brenda Staggs, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in Stone Lake, Wisconsin, and graduated from eighth grade at Stone Lake School. He entered the military in 1952, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army for twenty years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant on September 1, 1972. While serving in the Army, he earned his high school diploma through the G.E.D. program and received various medals and awards for taking part in the Korean War. After retiring, he and Dolores made their home in Lebanon, Missouri, and John worked for Lowe Boats for twenty years, retiring from Lowe’s in 1995.
John was raised in the Catholic faith.
In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where his favorite activities were hunting, and cutting wood. He also liked collecting guns, reading, and watching Western movies. His family was very important to him and he enjoyed spending time with his daughter and son-in-law.
John was a loving father, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that he will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the (HFLCS) Home For Life Cat Sanctuary, and left at the funeral home.
