John Fowler's Obituary
John Paul Fowler, son of Olen Paul and Marjorie Cody Fowler, was born August 8, 1949, in Omaha, Nebraska. He departed this life Wednesday, March 4, 2009, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-nine years, six months, and twenty-six days. On January 15, 1971, he was united in marriage to Patricia Jean Callow, and to this union four sons were born. His parents preceded him in death. John is survived by his loving wife of thirty-eight years, Patricia, of the home; four sons, Elliott Fowler, and his wife, Kim, Everett Fowler, Jon Fowler, Jr., and his wife, Kim, and Brian Fowler, and his wife, Chelse, all of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Jordan, Madison, Reagan, Cameron, Tyler, and Robbie; a brother, Jim Fowler, of Omaha, Nebraska; a sister, Roxanna Shimizu, of Chicago, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Omaha, Nebraska area and graduated from high school in Omaha. He then earned his bachelors and masters degrees from Lincoln University. While at the university, he met and married Patricia, and they made their home in Omaha. In 1979, they moved to Branson, Missouri, where John worked at KRZK Radio for ten years. In 1989, they relocated to Lebanon, Missouri, and John became the meteorologist and operations manager at KJEL Radio. He was well known for his “on the spot” weather reports, and enjoyed being a storm chaser. He also was an investigator for the Lebanon Rural Fire Department, served on their Board of Directors for twenty years, and had been their treasurer. John was raised in the Catholic faith. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors where he particularly liked to go fishing. He also enjoyed making doll houses. His family was very important to him and he especially loved having time with his sons and grandchildren. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will remember him as a loving family man, an informative radio personality, a dedicated fire official, and a good friend to many. Services will be at 11:00 am on Saturday March 7, 2009 at the Holman-Howe funeral home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.
