On November 1, 1969, he was united in marriage to Mary Jane Lee, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, on October 20, 2017; and a brother, Charles David Fox.
John is survived by a daughter, Barbara McWilliams, and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon, Missouri; a son, Lance Fox, and his wife, Lisa, of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Taylor, Jodie, and Erika; a great-grandchild, Hadlee; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends.
He was born and raised in Stockton, Missouri and graduated from Stockton High School in the Class of 1963. He entered the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully in the United States Army from March 3, 1964 until March 4, 1966, during the Vietnam War. He then worked with the United States Corps of Engineers in the construction of Stockton Lake for a time. He entered the Missouri State Highway Patrol in 1968 and continued in service until retiring in 2003 with the rank of Sergeant. He was stationed in Rolla, Missouri for part of that time, and then lived in Lebanon for most of those thirty-five years.
John had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Southern Heights Christian Church.
He greatly enjoyed riding motorcycles and he, and sometimes Mary, had made several long trips across the United States. John enjoyed being a member of the Missouri Geezers Motorcycle Club and liked making short trips with that group every Thursday. He loved doing wood carving and had particularly made several gun stock wood carvings for friends. He also enjoyed having coffee with the members of the coffee club each morning for many years. His life revolved around being a State Trooper and his family, and he especially enjoyed having time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
John was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
