John Frank's Obituary

He departed this life Saturday, March 27, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, six months, and nineteen days. On January 31, 1943, he was united in marriage to Dollie Edna Goans, and to this union two daughters and one son were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, Jerry Story; two brothers, Tom and Ralph; and four sisters, Mary, Edith, Anna, and Nancy. John is survived by his loving wife of sixty-seven years, Dollie, of the home; two daughters, Edith Clark, and her husband, Coyl, of Eldridge, Missouri, and Beth Story, of Buckeye, Arizona; a son, Lee Frank, and his wife, Susan, of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren, Darin, Heather, Christy, Karla, Melissa, and LeeSa; six great-grandchildren, Tessa, Jenna, Abby, Brendan, Destiny, and Bryanna; three step-great-grandchildren, Austin, Michaela, and Haley; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Oakland community, in Laclede County, Missouri. After he and Dollie were married, they made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their family. John worked for the Lebanon R-III School District in their maintenance department for over thirty-one years before retiring. He was a gifted carpenter and liked building things with his hands. John had professed his faith in Christ and was a member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon. His favorite activity was working in his garden, where he raised wonderful produce, particularly beautiful tomatoes. It was not unusual for people from all around to come to his home to purchase some of his homegrown produce. He also enjoyed building things and spending time in his workshop. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar. He possessed a kind and gentle spirit and was a very loyal and true friend to many. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and will treasure the wonderful memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday March 30, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the Lebanon Cemetery.
