John Gilsdorf (Bolivar)'s Obituary
John Lee Gilsdorf, 80 years of age, passed away on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at Gasconade Nursing Home in Owensville, Missouri.
John was born to William H Gilsdorf & Emma M (Cody) Gilsdorf in Seneca, KS and was one of eleven children. He and his siblings were raised on the farm in Onaga, Kansas.
On September 3, 1971, John was united in marriage to his loving wife Ruthie. They shared 51 years of life together. John retired from the California Public School System where he worked for more than 20 yrs. and then moved to Bolivar, Missouri. Post retirement he worked as a custodian at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bolivar and enjoyed a small business doing lawn work.
He enjoyed motorcycles, CB’s, chess, playing cards and using his hands to fix anything he could. He very much enjoyed family and friends. He had a quick smile for anyone and a twinkle in his eye that was infectious. He was always ready to lend a hand to anyone that needed him. He was hardworking and loyal to those he loved.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and nine of his ten siblings.
John had no children of his own but loved the many nieces and nephews and to most of them he was known as Uncle Jack.
He is survived by his wife, Ruthie; sister-in-law, Rose Kenney and her husband Keith; niece, Katheryn Shadden and her husband James; and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Memorial Services will be held Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 12 P.M. at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Inturnment will follow in Akard Cemetery in Fair Play, MO.
