John Groden's Obituary
John Allen Groden, Sr., son of Don and Mary Joyce Chancellor Groden, was born November 7, 1953, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He departed this life Tuesday, August 19, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-four years, nine months, and twelve days. On October 5, 1979, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Sue Blanton, and to this union two sons were born. His mother preceded him in death. John is survived by his wife, Carolyn, of the home; two sons, John Allen Groden, Jr., and Terry A. Groden, both of Lebanon, Missouri; a grandson, Issac Hillhouse; his father, Don Groden, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters, Laura Tillotson, and Cindy Bridenstine, both of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in Oklahoma, and graduated from Grand Jinks High School. In 1993, the family moved to Missouri, and John worked on the Adamson Dairy Farm for several years. He was currently employed by Generation-3 Boat Manufacturing Company in Lebanon. John was raised in the Catholic faith. In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, fishing, watching wrestling on television, and going to races of any kind. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed having the family together for meal time. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be at 2:00 pm on Friday August 22, 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Lebanon. Burial will be in the New Home Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday evening 7-8:30 pm under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Lebanon, Missouri. A memorial has been established and donations may be made through the funeral home.
