John Leone's Obituary
John Michael Leone, son of Nicholas and Mary Hartman Leone, was born December 19, 1927, in St. Louis, Missouri. He departed this life Sunday, March 5, 2006, in St. John’s Hospital, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-eight years, two months, and sixteen days. On May 15, 1954, he was united in marriage to Pauline Jasinski, and to this union two daughters and two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Anthony Leone; and two brothers, Nicholas and Joseph Leone. John is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Pauline, of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Powers, and her husband, Lance, of Cottonwood, California, and Stephanie Jackson, and her husband, Richard, of St. Charles, Missouri; a son, John M. Leone, Jr., and his wife, Cheryl, of St. Louis, Missouri; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; a brother, Bernard Leone, of Florissant, Missouri; a sister, Angeline Leudeman, of St. Louis, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri. He then served his country faithfully in the United States Army during World War II, and was stationed in Hawaii. After being honorably discharged from the Army, he returned to St. Louis where he married Pauline. They made their home in St. Louis and lovingly raised their family. For most of his life John worked as a truck driver for Associated Cartage Corporation. Upon retiring, he and Pauline moved to Lebanon, Missouri, to be near Bennett Springs State Park where John loved to fish. John followed the Catholic faith and had attended St. Francis DeSales Catholic Church in Lebanon. He loved to fish for trout and was an excellent teacher. He was a talented handyman that could fix anything. He also loved his dogs. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. John was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and we will treasure the memories he made for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorial contributions to the Lebanon Humane Society may be made through the funeral home.
