John McCoy's Obituary
John Craig McCoy, age 70, of Fair Play, Missouri passed away on Friday morning, April 16, 2010 at his home in Fair Play, Missouri after a courageous bout with cancer. He was born December 9, 1939 in Indianola, Iowa to Thomas John McCoy and Margaret (Douglas) McCoy. On June 24, 1961, John married Bernice Ann Burgus in Indianola, Iowa. He was a self-employed carpenter for over 50 years and was a member of the Harvest Assembly of God Church in Fair Play, Missouri. He loved woodworking, carving, working with clay, fishing and any other artistic love working with his hands. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a true Servant of God. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas & Margaret McCoy, three brothers, Richard McCoy, Junior McCoy and Jerry McCoy. John is survived by his wife, Bernice Ann McCoy of the home, two sons, Shawn McCoy and his wife Joyce of Firestone, Colorado, Steve McCoy of Fair Play, Missouri, two daughters, Sheri Lair and her husband Jerry of Newburg, Missouri, Staci Mauck and her husband Chuck of Fair Play, Missouri, 12 grandchildren, Brandi McCoy, Krystal McCoy, Kayla McCoy, Devin Hanshew, Breanna Lair, Jerrica Lair, Jared McCoy, Brittni McCoy, Ben Selvage, Baylee McCoy, Shelbi McCoy, Tristan McCoy, and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am, Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Harvest Assembly of God Church in Fair Play, Missouri with Reverend Lyle Shaulis officiating under the care and direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri. Musical selections will be “Serenaded By Angels” and “Homesick” by Randy & Connie Matheny. A granddaughter, Baylee McCoy will blow the Shofar. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Monday evening at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar. Honorary Pallbearers will be Shawn McCoy, Steve McCoy, Jerry Lair, Chuck Mauck, Ben Selvage and JaredMcCoy.
